Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge of the screen

Do not apply excessive heat, as it can cause damage to the display or internal battery.

Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the screen for one minute.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate (but exercise caution to avoid overheating).

Step 2 | Screen removal information

Do not pry at the screen seam, as it separates the screen from the rest of the phone.

Identify the bezel seam where the plastic bezel meets the frame.
Pry at this seam, where the plastic clips hold the bezel in place.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Use the Anti-Clamp tool for easier opening (demonstrated in next two steps).

If not using Anti-Clamp, skip ahead two steps for an alternate method.

Pull blue handle towards hinge to disengage opening mode.
Position suction cups near screen's bottom edge (front and back).

If device surface is too slippery, use packing tape to create a grippier surface.

Step 4

Engage opening mode by pushing blue handle away from hinge.

Turn handle clockwise until suction cups start to stretch.
Maintain suction cup alignment; realign arms if necessary.

Wait one minute for adhesive release and gap creation.

Insert opening pick when gap is sufficient, under screen and bezel frame.
If insufficient gap: apply more heat and turn handle half a turn clockwise; wait one minute before repeating.

Step 5 | Insert an opening pick

Apply suction cup as close to heated edge as possible.

If screen is badly cracked, follow guide to tape over cracked area.
Alternatively, superglue suction cup to broken screen if necessary.

Use strong, steady force to pull up on suction cup and create gap.

This may be difficult depending on device age; apply more heat if necessary.

Insert opening pick into created gap.

Step 6 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the bottom right corner of the screen.

Slide the pick back and forth along the bottom edge to loosen the adhesive.
Leave the pick inserted at the bottom right corner to prevent re-sealing.

Step 7 | Heat the left edge of the screen

Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the screen and heat it for one minute.

Step 8

Insert a new opening pick into the bottom left corner of the screen.

Slide the pick around the left corner, but do not insert more than 1/4 inch (6 mm) to avoid damaging the flex cable.

Continue sliding the pick up towards the front camera to cut the adhesive on the left edge of the screen.

Leave the pick inserted to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

Step 9

Insert another opening pick into the top left corner of the screen.

Slide the pick around the front camera and across the top edge of the phone.
If the adhesive is difficult to slice, apply heat for one minute before trying again.
Slide the pick to the top right corner and leave it inserted.

Step 10

Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner of the screen.

Slide the pick up to the top right corner to slice the last edge of adhesive.
You may need to re-run the opening pick around the edges again to ensure all adhesive is cut, particularly in the four corners where it's applied thickest.

Step 11 | Open up the screen

Use the opening pick at the top left corner to lift the left edge of the screen by a few millimeters.

Opening too far risks damaging the screen flex cable.

Lift up on the right side and open the phone like a book.
Stop opening at 90 degrees to prevent damage to the screen flex cable.

Step 12 | Disconnect the screen

Use tweezers to grasp the screen connector cover holding the screen flex cable in place.

Push the clip towards the connector until it releases.

Step 13

Remove the screen connector cover.

Keep this component for later reinstallation.

Step 14

Use the tip of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the screen flex cable.

Re-attach connectors by carefully aligning them and pressing down on one side until it clicks into place. Repeat on the other side.

Do not press down in the middle, as this can cause permanent damage to the pins if the connector is misaligned.

Step 15 | Screen information

The Pixel's screen back is extremely fragile and prone to damage from even minor scratches or dents.

Always handle the screen by its edges to prevent accidental damage.
When placing the screen on a work surface, ensure that no objects come into contact with the bottom of the screen. Consider using a soft, lint-free cloth for support.

Step 16 | Remove the screen

Remove the screen.

Use tweezers to remove remaining adhesive from the case.

When cleaning adhesive off the display with isopropyl alcohol, avoid splashing onto unintended components, which can weaken their adhesive bond.

Check the screen's front-facing camera hole and remove any protective liners.
Remove tape holding down the replacement screen's display cable, if present.

If using custom-cut adhesive, follow this guide for correct application.

If using Tesa tape, refer to this guide for reattachment instructions.

During boot-up after reassembly, the screen will calibrate.

Do not touch the screen during calibration, as improper touch calibration can cause issues.

Step 17 | Remove the graphite tape

Never touch the graphite tape without proper tools to avoid damaging the battery.

Use tweezers to lift up the graphite tape until it can be gripped with fingers.

Be careful not to puncture or bend the battery, as this may cause chemical leaks or thermal events.

Peel off the graphite tape carefully.

Step 18

Peel off the graphite pad from the charging plate cover using a pair of tweezers.

If possible, try to preserve the graphite pad for later reuse.
Set aside any removed components, including the graphite pad, for reassembly if needed.

Step 19 | Remove the charging plate cover

Use a T3 Torx driver to remove the two 4.6 mm-long screws securing the charging plate cover to the midframe.

Keep track of each screw and ensure it is reinstalled exactly where it was removed from.

Step 20

Remove the charging plate cover using tweezers.

Set aside for later use.

Step 21

Remove the midframe using a T3 Torx driver.

There are eight 4.6 mm-long screws to secure it.

Step 22 | Remove the midframe

Remove the midframe by lifting up the right side using a pair of tweezers.

The spacer at the top may fall out; save it for reassembly.

Step 23 | Disconnect the battery

Use the pointed end of the spudger to pry the battery connector straight up.

Disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.

Step 24 | Remove the shouldered screw

Remove the T3 Torx driver and loosen the shouldered screw with a socket size of 4.1 mm.

Step 25 | Disconnect the rear cameras

Hold down the rear camera assembly with your finger to prevent motherboard bending.

Use a spudger to disconnect the two rear camera press connectors from the motherboard.

Step 26 | Remove the rear cameras

Use tweezers to lift the rear camera assembly from its housing.

If your replacement camera module has a plastic spacer, remove it before installation.
Clean the lens surface with a soft cloth to ensure it is smudge and dust free.
