The iPhone's functionality is managed by its logic board, which serves as the central control unit for all operations.

To mitigate the risk of additional shattering and potential injury while performing the repair, secure any cracked display glass with tape.
Apply strips of transparent packing tape across the iPhone screen, ensuring complete coverage by layering them until the entire display surface is protected.
To prevent glass fragments from scattering and maintain stability during the display separation process, this technique is essential.
To safeguard your eyes from potential glass fragments that may detach during the repair process, always use safety glasses.

Step 2 | Logic Board

Step 2 image
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, detach the two screws securing the dock connector to the iPhone.

Step 3

Step 3 image
For improved handling and safety, detach the metal handle from the suction cup; gripping the suction cup's base directly is recommended.
Exercise extreme caution during iPhone disassembly to prevent damage to the delicate display cables.
A black display assembly is sealed to the silver front bezel by a rubber gasket; separation necessitates applying moderate pressure.
Carefully lift the lower edge of the iPhone’s display assembly by applying gentle upward force with a suction cup positioned close to the Home button.
When the display assembly's surface prevents proper suction cup attachment due to damage, secure it with a robust adhesive tape—options include duct tape or thick, transparent packing tape—to ensure a firm hold.

Step 4

Step 4 image
Before completely separating the display assembly from the iPhone, be aware that multiple cables maintain the connection and attempting to do so prematurely could cause damage.
Tilt the display assembly roughly 45 degrees by pivoting it.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Using one hand to secure the display assembly, employ a spudger with your other hand to carefully detach the ribbon cable identified as "1."

Step 6

Step 6 image
Adjust the display assembly's orientation to a near-vertical position to simplify access and disconnection of the remaining cables.
Carefully detach the ribbon cable identified with the "2" label using a spudger.

Step 7

Step 7 image
Employ a spudger to lift the 90-degree rotating white plastic tab, which secures the ribbon cable. This action will disengage the cable.
Carefully disconnect the black ribbon cable by sliding it from its connector, then detach the display assembly from the iPhone.

Step 8

Step 8 image
Using a SIM eject tool or a straightened paper clip, gently push into the small aperture located adjacent to the headphone jack.
Apply pressure to the tool, ensuring it remains aligned, until the SIM card tray ejects.
Using your fingers, carefully extract the SIM card tray from the iPhone by sliding it outward.

For iPhone 3GS models, consult image 2 and employ a spudger to release the "7" ribbon cable.

Step 12

Step 12 image
Exercise caution while lifting the adhesive label marked with the warning "Do not remove."

Step 13

Step 13 image
Detach the component by disengaging eight fasteners.
The logic board is affixed to the rear panel using five screws; each is 2.3 mm in length, features a Phillips #00 head, and has partial threads.
The logic board and camera are fastened together using two screws; each is a full-thread Phillips #00 screw, measuring 2.3 mm in diameter.
Beneath the "Do not remove" sticker, locate and remove a Phillips #00 screw with a 2.9 mm head.

Step 14

Step 14 image
Carefully detach the camera retaining clip—previously held in place by the screw you already removed—using a spudger, then gently lift the camera assembly upwards from within the rear panel housing; note that the camera remains connected to the logic board at its base and is not yet fully removable.

Step 15

Step 15 image
Carefully lift the logic board's edge nearest the dock connector using a spudger, applying gentle force.
Verify that each of the screws holding the logic board in place has been completely unscrewed if you encounter difficulty raising the board.

Step 16

Step 16 image
Carefully advance the logic board in the direction of the dock connector to disengage it from the iPhone's housing.

Step 17

Step 17 image
Carefully detach the camera module from the logic board using a spudger.
