To mitigate potential injury and contain shattered fragments while performing the repair, secure the cracked display glass with tape.
Completely cover the iPhone's screen with overlapping strips of clear packing tape to protect the display.
To prevent scattered fragments and maintain stability during the display separation process, this technique secures the glass.
To safeguard your eyes from potential glass fragments released during the repair process, always use safety glasses.

Step 2 | Dock Connector

Step 2 image
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, detach the two screws securing the dock connector to the iPhone.

Step 3

Step 3 image
For safer and more effective handling, detach the metal handle from the suction cup; gripping the base of the suction cup directly is recommended.
Exercise extreme caution during iPhone disassembly to prevent damage to the delicate display cables.
A black display assembly is sealed to the silver front bezel by a rubber gasket; separation necessitates applying moderate pressure.
Carefully lift the lower edge of the iPhone's display assembly by applying gentle upward force with a small suction cup positioned close to the Home button.
To ensure a secure grip when the display assembly’s surface is compromised and prevents suction cup attachment, apply a durable adhesive tape, like duct tape, to the area.

Step 4

Step 4 image
Before fully detaching the display assembly from the iPhone, be aware that it remains secured by three cables and should not be completely separated at this stage.
Tilt the display assembly upwards, achieving roughly a 45-degree angle.
Exercise caution during display assembly removal, as cable 4 may adhere to its rear surface, potentially leading to detachment or damage if force is applied.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Using one hand to secure the display assembly, employ a spudger with your other hand to carefully detach the ribbon cable identified as "1."
Beginning with the ribbon assembly, proceed systematically outward to the case's perimeter.

Step 6

Step 6 image
To facilitate disconnection of the remaining cables, adjust the display assembly's orientation so it stands approximately upright.
Carefully detach the ribbon cable identified with the label "2" by using a spudger.

Step 7

Step 7 image
Employ a spudger to lift the 90-degree rotating white plastic tab, which secures the remaining ribbon cable. This action will disengage the cable.
Carefully disconnect the black ribbon cable by sliding it from its connector, then detach the display assembly from the iPhone.

Step 8

Step 8 image
Using a SIM eject tool or a straightened paper clip, gently push into the small aperture located adjacent to the headphone jack.
Apply pressure to the ejection tool until the SIM card tray releases.
Using your fingers, carefully eject the SIM card tray from the iPhone by sliding it outward.

Step 9

Step 9 image
Carefully detach the ribbon cable identified as "4" using a spudger.

Step 10

Step 10 image
Employ a spudger to carefully separate the ribbon cable identified as "5."

Carefully detach the ribbon cable marked with the identifier "6" using a spudger.
For iPhone 3GS models, consult image 2 and employ a spudger to carefully detach the ribbon cable identified as "7".

Step 12

Step 12 image
Exercise caution while lifting the adhesive label that bears the warning, "Do not remove."

Step 13

Step 13 image
Using the appropriate screwdriver, detach the eight screws.
The logic board is affixed to the rear panel using five screws; each is 2.3 mm in length, features a Phillips #00 head, and has partial threads.
The logic board and camera are fastened together using two screws; each is a full-thread Phillips #00 screw, measuring 2.3 mm in diameter.
Locate the "Do not remove" sticker and, underneath it, you'll find a 2.9 mm Phillips #00 screw.

Step 14

Step 14 image
Carefully detach the camera retaining clip—previously held in place by the screw you already removed—using a spudger, then gently lift the camera assembly upward from within the rear panel housing; note that the camera remains connected to the logic board at its base and is not yet fully removable.

Step 15

Step 15 image
Carefully lift the logic board's edge nearest the dock connector using a spudger, applying gentle force.
A fragile, gold-colored grounding tab, located near the 'Do not remove' label on the logic board, is susceptible to damage; exercise extreme caution to prevent it from catching on the case's edges during logic board removal. Should you encounter signal issues following logic board separation, inspect this ground tab.
Verify that each of the eight screws holding the logic board in place has been completely unscrewed if you encounter difficulty raising the board.

Step 16

Step 16 image
Carefully advance the logic board in the direction of the dock connector to disengage it from the iPhone's internal components.

Step 17

Step 17 image
Detach the three screws.
Secure the dock connector with two Phillips #00 screws, each measuring 1.5 mm, positioned one on each side.
Locate the ribbon cable marked with the identifier "4," and secure it with a Phillips #00 screwdriver to release a 2.4 mm screw.

Step 18

Step 18 image
Carefully raise the dock connector assembly, ensuring it disengages completely from the iPhone.
Align the assembly so its screw apertures are positioned higher than the corresponding holes in the bezel.
